Umpires grading introduced

The promotion and demotion of umpires will be effective from the forthcoming 2001-2002 domestic season which begins in October.

The umpires will be promoted from Grade-II to Grade-I and demoted to Grade-II from Grade-I on the basis of their performance in the just concluded domestic season and refresher course to be held in July or August.

The decision was taken at the National Umpires Committee meeting held recently in Lahore. The umpires committee comprise Mahboob Shah (chairman), Said Shah and Mian Mohammad Aslam.

The committee will meet again in June to give a concrete shape to the decision taken during this meeting.
