Nottinghamshire v Surrey, Trent Bridge
Younis Khan is due to make his Championship debut for Nottinghamshire, as a replacement for Stephen Fleming, with Jason Gallian taking over the captaincy. However, Notts have suffered a blow as Chris Read has been ruled out with a sprained ankle. Notts are only 1.5 points behind Kent, the Division One leaders. Jimmy Ormond misses this match with a fractured bone in his right hand but there is better news for Martin Bicknell, who should overcome an Achilles injury to lead the attack. Scott Newman faces a late fitness test on a hamstring tear and Rikki Clarke will play purely as a batsman because his hamstring injury is restricting his bowling.

Sussex v Gloucestershure, Hove
Matt Prior is a doubt with a injured wrist after a mid-run collision with Ian Ward, during the National League match against Surrey, on Sunday. If Prior doesn't play Tim Ambrose will take over the wicketkeeping duties. Mark Davis, the offspinner, is certainly out with a dislocated thumb. Both teams are in desperate need of a win as they attempt to move away from the relegation zone.

Division Two
Leicestershire v Essex, Leicester
Dinesh Mongia returns for Leicestershire after his stint with the Indian training camp. David Masters replaces Stuart Broad, who is with the England Under 19 squad for their series against Sri Lanka. Aftab Habib retains his place because John Sadler is still recovering from the shoulder injury that caused him to retire hurt against Australia. Essex are hoping to be able to recall Darren Gough, who has overcome the back problem which has kept him out of action since the end of the NatWest Challenge. He passed a fitness test on Monday but has to undergone a final workout on Tuesday morning to ensure he is fit.

Somerset v Durham, Taunton
Richard Johnson is fit again to lead the Somerset attack after overcoming a back injury, while Graeme Smith leads the team for the last in a Championship match before returning to international duty. Durham are grateful that Mick Lewis, the Victoria fast bowler, has been able to come straight back into their team, following the news that Ashley Noffke is out for the rest of the season with a suspected stress fracture of his back. Durham are still top of Division Two, but now by only 12 points, and will be disappointed not to have beaten Derbyshire after making them follow-on in their last match.

Yorkshire v Derbyshire, Headingley
Chris Silverwood returns to the Yorkshire attack in place of Mark Lawson, the legspinner, who is on England Under 19 duty. But there is no place for Michael Lumb despite some impressive performances in the recent one-day cricket, including the top score of 57 against Worcestershire, at Scarborough, on Sunday. Meanwhile, Andy Gray could face his former club after being included in Derbyshire's 12-man squad. Derbyshire are rooted to the foot of the table, while Yorkshire are aiming to consolidate their position in the top three.
