Zahoor Elahi (203) put Lahore Whites in a commanding position, earning
78-run lead with six first innings wickets still intact, against
Sheikhupura on the second day of their Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy
Grade I match at the LCCA ground on Monday.
Replying to Sheikhupura's first innings total of 258, Lahore Whites
resumed their first innings in the morning at 45 without loss with
Zahoor Elahi at 28 and Ali Husain 8. Lahore Whites whipping
Sheikhupura bowlers piled up 336 for four in 93.1 overs.
At stumps, captain Ghaffzar Kazmi (51, six fours) and Tariq Mahmood
(10) were batting.
Zahoor Elahi played with great authority. He was featured in all the
four big partnerships of the innings. Zahoor Elahi, in the first
wicket stand with Ali Hussain, added 63 runs in 83 minutes. His second
wicket partnership with Tariq Aziz (12) yielded 53 runs in 49 minutes.
Then Taufiq Omar (26) joined hands with the well set Zahoor Elahi and
their third wicket collaboration plundered 64 runs in 75 minutes.
Zahoor Elahi with his captain Ghaffar Kazmi registered the big
partnership of 125 runs in 130 minutes.
Zahoor was finally caught by Mujahid Jamshed at longoff when he
attempted to hit a lofted shot to Kashif Raza at the total of 305. He
scored 203 in 368 minutes and faced 287 deliveries, cracking 28
boundaries and two towering sixes. Zahoor Elahi completed his century
with the help of 14 boundaries off 151 deliveries. At lunch, Zahoor
Elahi was batting at 82 with the total being 122 for two. He went for
tea at the individual total of 174 and the team's total of 253 for
three in 73 overs.
