What's Harry Brook got stuck behind his ear?

This is one for the etiquette coaches - what do you do with your chewing gum when you pause to eat or drink something? Shove it into the side of your mouth and hope not to choke on it accidentally? Fold it into its original wrapper for the time being?
If you're Harry Brook, you find a rather novel place to keep it.
During a drinks break on the fourth day of the final Test at The Oval, after smashing a 91-ball century against India, Brooks was topping up on his electrolytes when the commentators spotted something behind his ear.

With India hoping to level the series in the final Test at The Oval, Ravindra Jadeja was batting to extend their lead when he was distracted by a spectator's red t-shirt right behind the bowler's arm.
He informed the umpires, who informed the security staff at the ground and a long discussion took place before the man in question was identified.
"There's been a lot of conversation about him and he still doesn't realise he's the problem," the commentator chuckled.

Kagiso Rabada is still only 30, one of the best in the world at what he does, but might just be getting himself prepped for life after cricket.
Supersport mic in hand, Rabada waylaid team-mates Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder when they looked like they were on their way to training and, as is often the case with team-mates, got them to play along as he tried his funny lines.
"He looks like a bit of a gangster with his bucket hat on," Rabada told Jansen, before turning his attention to the tall man's shorts. "Why're you wearing shorts when it's so cold?" Jansen said something about having thought those were longer but, as Rabada concluded, "These are the problems of being tall. Your long pants turn out to be pretty much knee height."
Who's the most fashionable cricket commentator?

Who's the sharpest dressed commentator in the Sky roster? Nasser Hussain and Mike Atherton may be full of cricket insight, but they don't rank high as fashionistas.
Here's how Hussain describes Athers, who comes bottom of the pile in a viewers' poll: "Right at the bottom, with some distance: Michael 'Scruffy' Atherton - one shirt, no iron, about as scruffy as they get."
Next up, is Ian Ward. "Second from bottom, and only second because Atherton is on the team." Hussain ranks next and Athers appears to take some pleasure in fashion-policing him.

Alyssa Healy is a seven-time world champion, but that doesn't mean sometimes she isn't a bit foolish like us mere mortals.
On a podcast, Healy recalls the "worst blow-up" she's ever had, narrating an incident from the 2016 T20 World Cup in India.
"I was having a bad run of form. Got out, again [for 5], against South Africa. I think we were chasing, like not many."
South Africa had made 102 and Australia were 8 for 1 in the second over at the time of Healy's dismissal.
"Meg Lanning [Australia's captain at the World Cup] dying on the physio table. She was seriously ill [with] food poisoning. [I] got out, walked in [to the dressing room]. Couldn't blow up in the change room cos Meg's in there. Got to be a bit quiet. She's very ill.

India were always going to Old Trafford to play the fourth Test of an extremely absorbing Test series. But on Sunday they had time to make a little pit stop. At Old Trafford… adjacent.
Manchester United, the (joint) most successful club in English football, hosted India's Test cricketers at their training base in Carrington and it looks like everyone had a pretty fun time. Harry Maguire briefly relinquished defensive duties and batted against Mohammed Siraj. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant took penalties. Gautam Gambhir and Ruben Amorim were seen engaging in deep conversation.

Who better than Jhulan Goswami to give a pep talk to the India players before an ODI at Lord's? Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues had a video chat with the legendary fast bowler, who has asked them to "go for a 3-0 win" against England in the ODI series, which India lead 1-0 at the moment.

Goswami, one of India's greatest fast bowlers, finished her long and distinguished career at Lord's, in an ODI against England in September 2022, picking up two wickets in an India win. And India have won more often than they have not on the ongoing tour of England. They won the five-match T20I series 3-2, and have since gone one-up in the ODIs, with Rodrigues, among others, playing a key role in the first ODI, which India won by four wickets.
The second ODI of the series will be played at Lord's on Saturday.

A while ago, we asked a few players which cricketing venue had the best catering. The results were almost unanimous - no other ground came close to what Lord's had to offer. Both Heather Knight and Kyle Jamieson were floored by the giant prawns they had as an entree, while Issy Wong's complaint was that there's never enough food at Lord's!
At ESPNcricinfo we're all about investigative journalism so we sent our best minds to suss out what's on the menu in the media box. And frankly, it's a wonder any cricket gets played or any work gets done at all if the meals look like this.

Walking in to bat, running in to bowl - cricket has some cool entrances, but can the players remain cool when trying to enter through a lift door that's closing?
Jacob Bethell's the coolest among this set from the Hundred, according to us. Almost leaning casually and using his elbow to keep the lift door open - class!

The Lord's Test between England and India is perfectly placed for an exciting final-day finish with India needing 135 runs to win with six wickets in hand. We haven't been able to take our eyes off the action so far - the dismissals, the banter, the delaying tactics, the aggression shown by both sides. Here's a quick social-media round-up in case you missed it.
This was the reception Joe Root received in the Long Room as he walked out to bat in the second innings on day four - warm, but polite, applause, you could call it.
