clean as a whistle, and the Superchargers take a big stride towards the playoffs! The Invincibles, meanwhile, are eliminated! Right in the slot on middle and leg. Carey gets her front foot out of the way and clobbers this over the bowler's head. A clinical shot to end what was a clinical run-chase, and a clinical performance in general!
Invincibles vs N S-Chargers, 25th Match at Leeds, Women's Hundred, Aug 23 2025 - Match Result
N S-Chargers won by 7 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
1:52pm That will be all from us for this game. Lots of action lined up across both competitions in the Hundred and you can follow all of those games on ESPNcricinfo. Until next time, from Ranjith, Sudeep and myself (Shashwat), this is goodbye!
Alice Davidson-Richards, Player of the Match: (On the nervy end) I was a bit of a wreck to be honest, just pacing around and hoping the girls could get us over the line. Glad to get the win. (On the pitch) Up top, it looked quite hard. With both sets of seamers, it did a little bit. It got a little bit easier (as the innings progressed). (On how she recovered from the setback of her World Cup omission) This is a wonderful group. They wrap themselves around you. This is cricket - you have to turn up the next day, and just happy (with the win).
1:45pm Another strong and dominant showing at home by the Superchargers. Davidson-Richards was the star of their batting show, registering a half-century and breaking the back of the run-chase. Litchfield sparkled while she was at the crease, as did Sutherland and Carey. The most defining aspect, though, was that the Superchargers never lost wickets in clumps, and always built a partnership to ensure there were not many hiccups.
The Invincibles did not have a huge total on the board, and were dealt a tougher hand courtesy the injury to Farrant. Capsey injured her right hand while fielding off her own bowling too, and that may have also impacted the way she bowled towards the end. All of that meant the Invincibles were hanging on, and when the Superchargers turned it up a notch, they could not do much.
four more, and that could be the game! Fired in full just outside off. Carey gets down on the sweep and whacks it to deep mid wicket's right!
7 off 7. Around the wicket
DaWolf: "Not sure this is good batting. It opens up the chance of a late collapse despite having plenty of wickets in hand." -- The caution is perhaps down to botching a run-chase recently against the Originals, where they probably went too hard too early...
angled into the pads on a length. Sutherland tucks it towards deep mid wicket
back of a length on middle and leg. Sutherland stabs it off the back foot towards mid wicket
up, up and away! Given a bit of air just outside off and that is all Sutherland needs to put on her dancing shoes. Gets to the pitch of the ball and creams it over extra cover!
Smale to bowl the penultimate set. 12 off 10. Is there a twist left in this game? Sutherland on strike
back of a length on the stumps. Sutherland hangs back and punches it towards long on
floated up full on the pads. Carey brings out the reverse and helps it towards deep point
angled in quicker and flatter. Sutherland knocks it down the ground to long on
misfield, and that hits the fence! Crucial boundary to ease the nerves for the Superchargers. Sutherland hops back to this back of a length delivery on off and cracks it towards extra cover. The ball bobbles just in front of the fielder, and Moore cannot stop it cleanly!
Around the wicket to Sutherland too
slows it up and follows Carey outside leg with a back of a length delivery. Flat-batted down the ground to long on
A discussion happening between the umpires, Winfield-Hill, Capsey and Lanning. Not sure what that is exactly about. Could be around how many balls Capsey can bowl on the trot, given she went off mid-way in one of her previous sets, says Nasser Hussain on broadcast. Discussion is done, back to the cricket. Capsey to bowl. 20 off 15
into the stumps at the other end! Juicy full toss outside off. Carey winds up and thunders it into the stumps at the bowler's end. Sutherland had backed up too far but luckily for her, Wellington got nothing on it
googly that goes awry and is thrown out way outside off. Left alone by Carey and called a wide
fuller on off. Carey looks for the sweep but drags it towards square leg
back of a length on leg stump. Sutherland hops back and hacks it towards long on
hung up on a fullish length wide outside off. Carey reaches out for it and drives it towards sweeper cover
length outside off. Sutherland advances, stays on top of the bounce and drives it on the up towards long off
24 off 20, and this is still the Superchargers' game to lose. Wellington to bowl out. Can she pick up a wicket or two, and set the cat among the pigeons?
fullish just outside off. Carey chips down the track and tugs it enough to deep mid wicket's right to muster another brace
slowed up on a length on leg stump. Carey brings out the reverse for the second time this over and cracks it past backward point for a brace
darted in on a length on the pads. Sutherland, having taken a step down, pushes it towards long on
Around the wicket to Sutherland too
back of a length just outside off. Carey advances and hacks at it. Squirts it off the inside edge towards short fine leg and gets called through for the run. Sutherland tears across to complete the run. The throw went to the keeper. Had it been to the other end, Carey might have been struggling...
