Dhaka Gladiators 180 for 4 (Ashraful 103*, Stevens 36*) beat Khulna Royal Bengals 176 for 6 (Birt 94*, Mubarak 65) by six wickets
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Mohammad Ashraful struck his maiden Twenty20 century to guide Dhaka Gladiators to a six-wicket win over Khulna Royal Bengals. It is just the second hundred this season in the BPL after Shahriar Nafees' unbeaten 102 against Duronto Rajshahi in Khulna.
Ashraful was unbeaten on 103 off just 58 balls, as the Gladiators rapidly approached the 177-run target they had been set by the Royal Bengals. He cracked fourteen fours and two sixes, mainly favouring the off-side although he did blast 16 off Shapoor Zadran's second over mainly through the midwicket boundary.
Apart from the two lives when Nafees and Sanjamul Islam dropped him, Ashraful was aided by Joshua Cobb and Darren Stevens, having added 61 for the fourth wicket with the former and 74 for the fifth wicket with the latter.
Earlier, it was Travis Birt who made the Gladiators attack look ordinary with a blazing knocks of 94. He smashed six fours and as many sixes in his unbeaten 56-ball innings. Jehan Mubarak made 65 off 43 balls and had the pair not added 120 for the third wicket, Royal Bengals might have been restricted to a lower score.
It was the Gladiators' eighth win in the competition while the Royal Bengals have suffered as many losses in the competition.
