Mandhana gets the winning runs with another drive outside off, no matter that this was a thick outside edge. She got enough bat to send it wide of short third man
WI Women vs IND Women, 7th Match at Taunton, Jun 29 2017 - Ball by Ball Commentary
IND Women won by 7 wickets (with 45 balls remaining)
Mandhana is Player of the Match: I was quite nervous after 90 but my partner helped me keep me going and my partner Mona told me not to play a rash shot. This knock is special because we were chasing and my first hundred we lost the match (against Australia), and this comes in the World Cup. Everyone has a career goal but right now we're focusing on each match. My birthday is on 18th July so my jersey number is 18.
Mithali Raj: Very pleased with the way the girls responded with crucial runouts even though there were couple of lapses in th field (drops). A very good knock from Mandhana. I was hoping the seamers would utilise the conditions after we chose to bowl. But maybe it wasn't the day and the spinners did exceptionally well to bring us back. We need to work on our catching, fielding is very crucial and it can win us matches. We needed a partnership and lost two early wickets so it was important that two of us among the runs got one going. I told Smriti not to play any rash shots because another wicket would have been crucial.
Stafanie Taylor: Disappointed after I thought we got a good platform and it's the second time it's happened. We need to do some work there. You'd think that's where you went wrong (when the spinners came on), not rotating the strike and there were too many dot balls.
Mithali Raj has headed to the boundary with a smile to sign some autographs and we are going to head home now. Thank you for joining us today on a double header, it's goodbye from Vishal and Annesha.
Kapil: "@Spidercam - You cant blame the viewers when the broadcaster doesn't make proper arrangements and decides to show highlights of the previous match as opposed to the live match !!! "
Prakash: "As Proud of the Indian Women's team as the men's.. Superb performance by all..!! A treat to watch the shots they play
4.52pm Handshakes all around, hugs in the Indian dugout as they canter to their second win in as many matches. Mandhana gets a bear hug from Jhulan Goswami as soon as she crosses the boundary. Mithali Raj is smiling ear to ear too as she walks onto the field, she fell just four short of a record eighth straight half-century. The win today was set up by the Indian spinners, bowling with fearless flight and immaculate lines to strangle this powerful West Indies line up. Matthews had given them a strong start again before Ekta Bisht, Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav took over to bowl just 30 overs for just 69 runs
Pawan verma: "Another win for the Indian girls. Mandhana you little beauty, you're just 2 years older than your jursey no. (18) and playing like a 30 year old who knows every in out of the game. Blessed with such young cricketers Indian cricket has a long way to go."
Spidercam: "Go Mandhana Gooo! It is a shame Women cricket does not receive even 50% viewership as mens'."
Meshram charges down and swipes it away to deep midwicket with the turn
comes down and lofts it high over the covers, it's gone pretty high but nobody can get under it
reaches out for it this time outside off and pushes it into the covers
goes on the back foot again and defends it again
waits for the ball to turn in and blocks it back
such style, such finesse, that's how you bring up your century! She made room, got a full delivery and lofted it beautifully with an inside-out drive for an impressive century. Off comes the helmet and what a wide and beaming smile from the 20-year old for her second ODI century
angling the ball into Mandhana, she bunts it back
gives it a good flight well outside off, drawing the batsman forward. Meshram reaches out for it but misses
lets the ball turn into her again and whips it a bit awkwardly to midwicket
stays in the crease, lets the ball turn in and blocks
that's slightly short and turning in, Meshram goes back quickly and swats it square on the leg side in the gap for four
comes down, it's a low full toss and she drives it to mid on
waits for the ball on the back foot and taps wide of short third man for one
dropped on 94! Short ball, waist high and Mandhana has pulled it straight towards midwicket where Knight dives forward but can't hold on to it
uses her feet like Mithali Raj was and tucks it to long on for one more
that's in the air, she made room to clear the in field probably but chipped it over the bowler pretty high. Luckily for her, lands safely
leans towards the ball on leg and defends it to off after it turns
watches the ball carefully outside off and helps it to point
