Presentation

"Not really worried," says Mahela Jayawardene. "Playing some good cricket. A couple of good games have not gone our way. We have to keep improving. The bowling was pretty good, but I don't think we assessed the wicket well. we were looking at 160-170, but the wicket was more like 140. If we had assessed the wicket better, the shot selection would have been better. The bowlers did a good job and created opportunities for us, but we didn't have enough on the board. Nadeem has been some talent for us. Kedar is a guy we know can deliver for us. It;s been up and down but quite happy with the effort of some of the boys. Delhi fans have been always supportive. It hasn't happened so far in the season, but we will repay the faith."

"Proud to lead the Hyderabad Sunrisers," says Kumar Sangakkara. "A hard-fought win today. We should have finished with three-four overs in hand. We didn't have the greatest of the starts, but in the middle too we got bogged down. All credit to Steyno, Mishra, Reddy and Parthiv too. But the bowling was outstanding. It is a good start, but a lot of hard work to do. we have lost a couple of players to injuries."

"Bit of pressure there," says Amit Mishra, the Man of the Match. "I have been improving my batting for the last two seasons. It helped me here. I am trying my best, working hard on batting and fielding. The team's win is more important for me than my personal contribution. Great support from Tom, Sanga and the owners."

Mostly relief on Hyderabad faces after they messed up another chase, but have eked out the points again. Top effort from their bowlers, but they were not great with the chase. Steyn and Mishra, though, see them through in the end. Hang around for quotes from the presentation

4
Pathan to Steyn, FOUR runs

slower ball, but try telling those who have only seen this rocket away for four. Fiercely, savagely hit to finally win this match. Short of a lenght, slow, Steyn sets up and smashes it straight for four

19.1
2
Pathan to Steyn, 2 runs

length ball, outside off, Steyn drives, clears point with the slice, gets two, crucial two

Last over. Are Hyderabad going to manufacture another tie?

Irfan Pathan to bowl the final over. Botha and Kaul were the other options

done in by pace. Short, outside off, Mishra looks for the late-cut, but is late into it. Yadav does redeem himself after that four first ball

18.5
Umesh Yadav to Mishra, no run

Mishra tries the ramp, but is beaten. This could have been over. Not a smart ball. Too short, and only chest high

Mid-off comes up, fine leg goes back

1
Umesh Yadav to Steyn, 1 run

slower ball, gets a leading edge from Steyn, concedes a single to third man

18.3
Umesh Yadav to Steyn, no run

bowled from behind the stumps. On a length, outside off, driven to short cover

18.2
1
Umesh Yadav to Mishra, 1 run

length ball, on off, Mishra looks to work to leg, gets a leading edge, past short cover, for one

Umesh Yadav to Mishra, FOUR runs

no redemption song for Yadav tonight? Short, not too wide, but he arches back superbly and he upper-cuts it over point. Mishra is making up for that misfield at the end of the first innings?

Yadav comes back. Both his previous overs have gone for 13 each. Time for redemption?

superb shot, superb fielding. Short of a length, outside off, absolutely smoked away to the right of deep cover, but Nadeem puts in the dive, gets a hand to it, and then gets a hand to the ricochet even as he is sliding. That's two runs saved

1
Pathan to Mishra, 1 run

tries the ramp, but this is a slower ball so it doesn't beat short fine leg

In comes Dale Steyn, but Mishra is on strike

Pathan to Perera, OUT

lovely catch by Botha. Delhi refuse to die, Hyderabad refuse to step over the line. Did anyone say tie? Wide length ball, slower I presume, Perera lofts down the ground but doesn't time it well. Botha sets himself up at the edge of the boundary, and takes it overhead. Makes it look easy, but believe me this is a difficult catch. He has judged this early and perfectly, he knows where he is with respect to the boundary, and then he has executed it perfectly

Thisara Perera c Botha b Pathan 2 (3b 0x4 0x6 27m) SR: 66.66

Finally Perera gets the strike

17.3
1
Pathan to Mishra, 1 run

pushes at a wide length ball, it goes off the thick outside edge for a single

17.2
Pathan to Mishra, no run

slower offcutter, short of a length, Mishra is beaten on the punch

Sixteen off 17 now

Pathan to Mishra, 2 runs

they are appealing for obstructing the field. Mishra tries the ramp, is hit on the back of his bat, to cover. Perera wants the single, Mishra responds, and the throw hits his back. Now we don't know if Mishra changed his line. Mishra is fine. He never looked at the fielder, and never changed direction. And Sunrisers are so desperate they take the overthrow off the body. Mahela Jayawardene is letting his displeasure known. Just to rub it in, Mishra is hit on the back when taking the second too

Mishra takes strike again. Perera has faced only two balls in the three overs he has been at the wicket so far. Here is Botha. Crucial over. No he is taken off. Change of thought. He hands the ball over to Irfan Pathan

Morkel to Mishra, 1 run

Jadhav gets a touch to this one. Full and just outside off, the edge flies, but the diving Jadhav gets a touch to take the sting off it and saves three runs

16.5
2
Morkel to Mishra, 2 runs

that's no tailender shot. Fullish, on the pads, and he has flicked this away just wide of long leg for two

16.4
4
Morkel to Mishra, FOUR runs

Mishra has smoked this one. Slower one, but on a length, on middle and leg, in the natural swing of a tailender, and he has sent this flying over midwicket

16.3
Morkel to Mishra, no run

full and wide, Mishra tries to drive, is beaten by the pace

Morkel to Mishra, (no ball)

yorker, but he has overstepped. Is this the turning point? Perfect yorker, but he has to now bowl a free hit

16.2
Morkel to Mishra, no run

slower ball again, gets extra bounce, hits the higher part of the bat

Amit Mishra is the new man in. Scored a Ranji double hundred this season

16.1
W
Morkel to Ashish, OUT

looks like the slower ball, and Morkel has shifted the balance again. Reddy backs away again, Morkel bowls the fast offcutter, Reddy is early into his swipe, and the leg stump is flat

Ashish Reddy b Morkel 16 (9b 2x4 0x6 12m) SR: 177.77

Twenty-six to win off the final four. This last over has shifted the balance towards Sunrisers, but here is Morkel, who has been hard to hit
