Warriorz vs Vipers, 15th Match at Dubai, ILT20, Jan 22 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Vipers won by 10 wickets (with 60 balls remaining)
Desert Vipers, table-toppers. They played up to that billing. Decimated Warriorz, whose NRR at -1.32, is the lowest by a distance. They'll face each other on the 25th. DC vs GG tomorrow, see you for that. Thanks for tuning in tonight. Take care
Mohammad Amir, POTM: As a new-ball bowler, you try to swing the ball. You have to stick to it as long as you can. You have to bowl according to the wicket, had to hit good areas that's all here. You have to adapt to conditions asap and I did that. Celebration comes with Pushpa 2, hero does that so I was doing. If you talk as a bowling unit, we have a fantastic unit - Ferguson, Payne, Hasaranga, et al - which is amazing.
Lockie Ferguson, Vipers captain: Not ideal when you're just fielding. But it's okay, just a sprain of the ankle. Not sure if I'll play the next game, will wake up tomorrow and take it from there. Last game, we were off in all three departments. Mo Amir hit his mark right up top. T20 some days you have a day off, and we did that tonight after last game. Hasaranga was licking his lips on that track, whole bowling attack has done well.
Tim Southee, Warriorz captain: It's always tough when you're 6 foe 30 off, but the beauty is we have a chance to bounce back against the same opposition. We'll get a day out and then train. Level changing room. You try and scrap away to a score after a bad start, and dangerous batters took them home.
9:07pm: Halfway through and it's all over. Oh, the camera cuts to Lockie Ferguson, who hobbled down the steps. He looks in good spirits though. He twisted his ankle while fielding. But the bowlers were clinical and so were the openers, who closed out a modest chase by themselves. Powerplay wickets were the only chance for Warriorz to come back, but Vipers knew that. They took chances, which came off.
Slog swept so high, so far, so over the boundary... Was a length ball on leg that was swung with a mighty backlift and follow-through. Agar smiles and shakes his head in disbelief. Ball's lost, new one needed
Looks to cut it square, misses. Was a length ball darted outside off
Full on leg, whacks a drive to long-on. Above the jumping bowler, good run and slide from long-off to stop it
Wide and slow on a length, spins away, slapped to long-off
Wide on a length, chopped to deep point
Chops a wide length ball to cover
Wide on a length, cut to sweeper cover
Yorker on off, blocked to the bowler
Full on leg, clipped to midwicket
Fullish and flat. Angle away through fifth, jabbed towards deep-backward square
Rocks back and drives the wide length ball to deep point
Time-the-out
Fullish down leg, and Fakhar's edged heave on one knee is too fine for deep fine leg.
Length on the pads, whipped off the back foot to deep-backward square
Fifty up, Fakhar has all but ensured a Vipers victory. Guides it to deep third with a late square drive. Was a length ball just outside off
Slower short ball over the stumps has been swivel-pulled to deep-backward square leg. Hales had to slow the swing, just to get the power right
Fullish length ball on middle, clipped through square leg. Outfielder runs to the right to cut it off
Length on leg, clipped through to deep midwicket
Pulls the shortish ball, at the body, to deep-backward square leg
So very slow. 108ks but could've been 84ks. Was a shortish ball lobbed outside off, took an age to rise to top-of-stump height. There was room and Fakhar tried to walk back for the cut. Too far though. Ended up leaving it
