Banged in short and follows him as he steps to the leg-side, steers it away to deep third and fetches a boundary and that also wraps up the game. Such a clinical run-chase, absolutely flawless!
DC vs Warriorz, 23rd Match at Dubai, ILT20, Jan 28 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Warriorz won by 9 wickets (with 49 balls remaining)
This is exactly what Sharjah Warriors needed to give themselves a chance to sneak into the top four. It's a perfectly executed chase with no blemishes whatsoever. Charles and TKC were a delight to watch tonight, playing an array of delightful strokes and giving no chances to the bowlers. The bold statement of intent right from the word go paid rich dividends and with a modest total to defend, Dubai Capitals' only hope to stay alive was to pick wickets--something they couldn't do. We saw a massive gulf between the two sides today. Warriors had no issues after the powerplay while Capitals began to crumble after the first six overs
Sikandar Raza, Dubai Capitals Captain: I thought we were traditional in our batting, needed more sweeps, reverse sweeps and switch hits. We went into a shell rather than being aggressive. John is a fantastic player and done that to many teams; it was quite hard to bowl at him. John played a lot of great shots. One bad game is not going to derail us. Try to get this game out of system; winning next two is the target
Tim Southee, Sharjah Warriors Captain: Spinners were outstanding, Rohan as well. Obviously, our best performance of the tournament. Never ideal when guys drop catches, wasn't costly tonight but need to work on.
Adam Zampa, Player of the Match: They got off to a bit of flier. I actually love playing in Dubai because it gets a bid skiddier as well. Thought ash (Ashton Agar) and Rohan bowled (well), complemented. We put them under the pump. Ash and I have played a lot together, love playing together. It felt almost nostalgic. We haven't played a lot together recently. Jonnson and TKC did really well...joked at halfway stage about NRR and they sorted that
Pace-off length ball outside off, pressed into the covers for one and the scores are level
Slower on a length and wide of off, dinked away into the covers to bring up a classy half-century; very watchable, very exciting, and an innings laced with many eye-catching strokes as well just like Charles
Good length on off, backs away and plays a delectable shot through the covers; stamps his authority again
Over the wicket, pace-off shortish delivery on middle, makes room and plays with an angled face to short third region
Good length at off, steps back and punches it back to Raza
Slower in the air, turns in a wee bit, goes back and defends
Fuller and dipping in at fourth stump, blocked back to the bowler
Full on middle and leg, driven to mid-off
Stays deep and pulls it away square of midwicket to nab two runs
live by the sword, die by the sword; this is how he bats, sticks true to his methods and tries to power it over deep midwicket, not quite under it and pouched by the fielder in the deep but it was an innings of class and sheer entertainment, especially those switch hits were out of the world
Rapid full-toss at him, pumped away to deep midwicket
Down on one knee and the ball keeps flying! Swept through deep square for a six; margin of error is minimal
Fuller on the pads, worked away to deep midwicket. Strong statement from Warriors
Lands this full on middle and leg, he says thank you very much and clubs it over deep midwicket for a six; leans forward and times it so well
Good length on middle, lifts it up and away from deep square for a one-bounce four; making it look like a walk in the park. All too easy at the moment for TKC
Around the wicket, length on middle, broom out and swept to fine leg, McCoy intercepts
Fuller and straightening down the line middle and leg, swipes it back to Raza presenting full face of the bat
Floated and follows him on the leg-side, little flick to deep midwicket's right
Looped up fuller on middle, driven to long-off
