8.08 pm The first two one-sided fixtures of the first week of the Hundred take place at Old Trafford. The Phoenix Women run away with victory in the first match on this pitch while the Originals Men stroll to a one-sided win in the late half of the twin-bill.

Match Hero is Matt Parkinson for his figures of 4 for 9 in the first innings: "It's been a slow season for me so far. To perform in the first game is fantastic. To build some momentum the past two weeks has been great and to play on a used pitch is nice for a change here."

The dilemma about match length when formulating the Hundred was supposed to be all about trying to shorten games from running too long. But this one ends a full hour shorter than the time slot allotted! I don't think anyone associated with the Manchester side will be complaining though. Come back tomorrow for another doubleheader. For Matt Roller and Alan Gardner, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
