Bahamas continued their domination in the Americas Central Region Under-15 Tournament by defeating Cayman Islands at the Haynes Oval in Nassau. The hosts ensured their unbeaten record stayed intact, after prevailing by nine wickets - the identical margin of victory in all their three matches in the tournament so far.
Choosing to bat, Cayman got off to a respectable start, reaching 50 for the loss of just one wicket. However, that changed quickly as the next six wickets fell cheaply for 30 runs. The demolition was led by Matthew Jesubatham who picked up 4 for 19 in six overs. Paul Laidlaw (19 not out) and Joneil Bent (9 not out) combined for an unbeaten 35-run partnership to lift Cayman Islands to 115 for 7 in their allotted 30 overs.
The chase got off to a flying start with Turan Brown belting a boundary off the first ball of the innings. The Bahamas batting was solid once again as they stayed ahead of the required run-rate throughout. Brown fell for 37 runs, having stroked five fours, but not before the total had reached 95. His opening partner Akash Galati continued to score freely to take Bahamas home in 20 overs. Galati's boundary, one of seven, which sealed the match, also helped him bring up his career maiden fifty.
While Sunday's match features Cayman Islands up against Belize, the tournament final will be played between Belize and Bahamas on Monday.
