In a magnificent reversal, Barbados ended the day firmly on top, with victory in the Carib Beer Cup final not far away. Jamaica had Barbados in a spot of bother at the end of the third day, but Floyd Reifer and Courtney Browne pulled their team out of trouble with a stand of 80, and ensured the team got to a competitive total of 315. Corey Collymore and Ian Bradshaw got into the act when Jamaica batted, and blasted out six wickets for 69. Jamaica need 131 more runs to win, but only have four wickets left.
Reifer and Collymore began the day with the intent of building on their lead, but Daren Powell soon had Collymore caught behind. Browne joined Reifer, and they combined to frustrate and add runs, displaying the fighting qualities that had got Barbados this far. Browne (47) outscored Reifer by two runs to one in the partnership, until he was bowled by Andrew Richardson. Jamaica's patience was stretched some more, when the next batsman, Bradshaw, showed no signs of leaving either. He added 17 runs in a 53-run stand with Reifer (83), but was run out, and the Barbados innings ended shortly after, on 315.
With a target of only 200, and more than a day to get there, Jamaica held the aces - until Collymore crashed through the batting order with three wickets, including Chris Gayle's. Bradshaw eked out two wickets, and Pedro Collins had one to his name as well. After 23 overs and one ball, Jamaica's innings was in tatters, and Barbados were tantalisingly close to victory.
