Dale wins Player of the Year Award

Adrian Dale today won the Glamorgan Player of the Year Award for the
second successive season.
Adrian received the award, sponsored by S.A.Brain and Co., at
a special lunch in Cardiff this afternoon. The 32 year old all-rounder scored 1026 runs in Championship cricket during 2001, at an average of 51, as well as hitting three centuries, including 204 in the opening match of the season at Northampton.
In handing over the award to Adrian, Scott Waddington, the Chief Executive of
Brain`s also drew attention to his invaluable contribution in the National League games, in addition to leading the Glamorgan side following Steve James` injuries at the start of the season, and again in August.
Jonathan Hughes, who made his first-class debut in the final Championship
match of the season, also won the Young Player of the Year Award. The
20 year old batsman from Hopkinstown scored over 500 runs in 2nd XI cricket
this summer, and last week he made a very favourable impression with the bat
, scoring 49 on his county debut.
