Davison and Billcliff share a massive 233 run partnership

When play resumed today it did not take Canada long to wrap up the last remaining Bermudan wicket. With just one run added to their overnight total , Henry Osinde bowled Kevin Hurdle on the fourth delivery of the day. The wicket gave Osinde final figures of 3/88.

Canadian openers Geoff Barnett and skipper John Davison started well but with the score on 36, Barnett was given out trapped leg before to the bowling of Ryan Steede. Stewart Heaney joined his Captain but his misfortunes with the bat continued.

With his personal score barely on double figures he was caught by Romaine off the bowling of Kevin Hurdle with the Canadian score at 53. Bermuda's hopes were high with two wickets back in the pavilion and still a long way to go but little did they know that it would be the last wicket to fall for almost three hours.

Davison was joined by Ian Billcliff, who had returned to the side after missing the series against Kenya. The pair delighted the home crowd with some entertaining shots all around the ground. Davison was to first to reach his century in just under 200 minutes at the crease but at a pace of a run a ball. For a while it looked as if they would push Canada to a first innings lead but with the score on 286 Davison was brilliantly caught on the deep mid wicket boundary by Stephen Outerbridge.

Outerbridge had to cover several yards and made a spectacular caught inches off the ground. Davison was on a well played 165 having spent 232 minutes at the wicket and faced 175 balls. His innings included 23 fours and 1 six. The third wicket partnership between Davison and Billcliff was a massive 233 runs. JohnDavison's total of 165 is the highest for a Canadian batsman in this competition surpassing Zubin Sukari's 139 at the semi finals in 2004. It was Davison's best first class score beating his previous high of 84 in Australia.

The Bermudan bowlers, relieved at the fact they had finally broke through the partnership, struck again when quickie Ryan Steede got Ashish Bagai to change his mind on a shot and offered a simply return catch.

Qaiser Ali then joined Billcliff and the pair added a useful 67 run partnership during which Billcliff reached his century and Canada took the first innings lead. Bermuda's bowlers achieved more success in the final hour of play capturing three more wickets including that of Ian Billcliff in the final over of play when he was bowled by Ryan Steede.

For Steede it was his fourth wicket of the day at a cost of 75 runs.

Billcliff's innings lasted 288 minutes during which he faced 246 balls. His innings of 126 included 11 fours and 1 six.

Canada will carry a 52 run lead into tomorrow's play having three wickets intact.
