The Dolphins - and not the Titans - will represent South Africa in the Duleep Trophy in India, according to the Supersport website.
The decision was taken at a Cricket South Africa (CSA) meeting on May 17, ending speculation over whether the Dolphins or the Titans would play in the tournament.
"The Dolphins will participate subject to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) providing the dates of the tournament to the United Cricket Board by June 2006," the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) said in a statement. "This will allow the UCBSA to complete its fixtures for the 2006-07 season."
The Duleep Trophy pits six teams, divided into two pools, against each other in four-day matches. Five of the competing teams are Indian zonal sides, and the sixth team is from outside India.
Last October, CSA accepted an invitation from the BCCI to send a team to play in the competition for the next three years. The winners of the SuperSport Series, CSA decided, would be that team but the situation was complicated when the Dolphins and the Titans drew the final, which meant they shared the championship.
