ENGLAND v WEST INDIES 1979-80

At Sydney, November 28

15-Apr-1981
At Sydney, November 28. England won by 2 runs. A fine opening partnership between Randall and Brearley, who put on 79 in 23 overs, plus support from Gower and Willey built England"s total in their first game under floodlights. Rain reduced West Indies" target to 199 off 47 overs. Greenidge, Rowe and Kallicharran put down a firm foundation, but a collapse left Croft, the last batsman, needing to score 3 to win off the final ball. He was bowled by Botham as all the England fielders including Bairstow were pushed back to the boundary.
