After an unlucky fortnight in which he broke a finger and was attacked by a dog, Matthew Hayden's focus will be back on his batting on Saturday with his selection in Queensland's squad for the Ford Ranger Cup clash against Tasmania at Hobart.
Hayden has been on the sidelines since fracturing the little finger on his right hand in the Bulls' Pura Cup loss to Tasmania. Barely a week later he was out for a run when a dog attacked him, leaving Hayden with a gashed ankle.
The fast bowler Ashley Noffke has also returned to the Queensland squad after a back injury forced him out of the same game in which Hayden was injured. Lachlan Stevens has been left out to make way for Hayden while Noffke replaces the fast bowler Grant Sullivan, who made his FR Cup debut against New South Wales last week.
Both the inclusions for Queensland starred in the Bulls' season-opening FR Cup win against the Tigers. Hayden scored 91 in a Man-of-the-Match performance and Noffke routed the Tasmania top order with 3 for 30. Queensland are on top of the FR Cup table with ten points after two games, including two bonus points.
