Lahore and Karachi would vie for top honours in the limited overs final of the Ideal Inter City Veterans Cricket Cup-2001, which will be played under lights at the National Stadium Karachi on Monday, 19th February.
Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA), aiming to look after the welfare of Veterans Cricketers in all the four provinces of Pakistan has previously conducted five Veterans Tournaments in Karachi during 1998 and 2000, whereas two tournaments have been conducted on All Pakistan bases in 1998 and 1999. The present tournament, called the Third Ideal Inter City Veterans Cricket Cup, started on 3rd January 2001 in different centres of Lahore and Karachi. In addition to the four teams from Karachi and two from Lahore, veteran cricketers representing Faisalabad, Quetta, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Peshawar competed the tournament. Okara, Sheikhupura, and Kasur (OSK) sent a combined team to take part in the competition.
As expected, Karachi Whites, led by Mansoor Akhtar, and Lahore Whites, led by Ashiq H. Qureshi, trampled their opponents to reach to final of the tournament, which promises to be a thrilling competition between two balance sides.
