The extent of the challenge facing Leicestershire's new chief executive Wasim Khan, who wants to stir interest among Leicester's Indian population to revive county cricket's most ailing county, has been reflected by the announcement of a loss of £225,153 in 2014.
Leicestershire have not won a Championship match for more than two years and their poor on-field displays led to falling revenue in all forms of cricket. Even a tour match against India did not bring expected rewards because of a washed-out second day.
Andrew McDonald, Leicestershire's new head coach, a key figure in the 2011 side that won the T20 Cup, is due to arrive at the end of March, only two weeks before the start of the Championship season.
