Karachi, Dec 8: Banned former Pakistan captain Salim Malik faces termination
from Habib Bank after he was summoned for a hearing of the disciplinary
committee of the establishment next year.
An official of the bank said Salim Malik will have to convince the committee
that he has not been involved in match-fixing for which he has been banned for
life on the findings and recommendations of Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum.
"He has a very weak defense. A player found guilty by a High Court judge after
indepth investigations can only hope for a miracle to save his nearly two
decades of association," a Habib Bank official said.
The need for deciding Salim Malik's fate was felt as the date for submitting the
list of 25 players for the PCB-organized Patron's Trophy approaches. Dec 30 has
been fixed as the deadline.
