The Lancaster Park-Woolston Red cricket team which scored just 27
runs in its opening two matches this season, has suddenly found the
middle of the bat.
But its 145 runs on Saturday were not enough to beat the LPW Gold
side in the seventh-grade match.
LPW Red captain Richard Derham led from the front, scoring 53 not out
- but his side fell short of its target by 108 runs.
The LPW Red team scored 19 and eight in its other two games this
season.
Derham told his team before Saturday's match not to let the earlier
two innings prey on their minds and "do the basics well".
