KARACHI, Jan 10: While the cloud of uncertainty hangs over the
forthcoming tour of India by the Pakistan cricket team, all the 22
probables named by the national selection committee are engaged in a
hectic training programme which went into full swing at the National
Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Saturday.
The 23rd probable, Aamir Sohail, former captain of Pakistan, whose
name was added to the probables list by the Pakistan Cricket Board,
remained conspicuous by his absence from the NSK training camp.
The training programme was shifted from Gaddafi Stadium Lahore to NSK
following the continuing inclement weather in Punjab.
Although some sort of worries about personal safety and security
might be lurking in the back of the minds of some players, ebullience
and enthusiasm marked the general atmosphere at the NSK.
Most players are bursting with an upbeat morale and looking forward
to the prospect of playing in a Test series on Indian soil after 12
years.
Being supervised by coach Javed Miandad, the probables seem to be
concentrating on learning the finer points of the game irrespective
of the outcome of the current debate on whether the Pakistan team
should undertake the Indian tour or not.
