Can cricket bring politicians closer together? Authorities in Pakistan are, according to UNI, planning to find out by organising a cricket match between parliamentarians of India and Pakistan.
Imran Khan, Pakistan's cricketing legend and the leader of the Tehrik-e-Insaaf, would seem to be a natural choice to captain the team, but Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, of the Muslim League-Nawaz, has also been touted as a contender. Nisar is a former first-class cricketer.
Aitzaz Ahsan and Khurshid Shah are also expected to be in Pakistan's side. It has also been proposed that the parliamentarians first play warm-up matches against journalists. The proceeds are expected to be donated to charities.
