Police Sports Club secured a six wicket victory over Singha CC today in a Duckworth Lewis affected match at Police Park today.
Police SC, who were asked to chase 157 for victory, were 78 for 4 from 18 overs when rain stopped play. According to Duckworth Lewis calculations Police were ahead of the required run rate.
Police SC had won the toss and elected to field first after winning the toss. Singha CC lost two wickets for 16 runs before 45 runs were added for the third wicket by Pulasthi Rangana (52) and Saman Jayantha (19).
When the pair was separated wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Thamara Aberathne caused the problems and picked up 5 wickets for just 19 runs from his allotted 10 overs.
In reply the Police batsman started briskly, conscious of the eminent threat of rain. They lost Nisantha Udawatta early on but Sanjaya Dewapura came to the rescue with 35 from 67 deliveries.
