The torrential rains that have drenched Colombo in the last few days have delayed the start to this practice match until after lunch. The Pakistan players arrived early in the morning but have now left for some indoor practice at the NCC Grounds.
The rain has now stopped and the groundsmen are busily preparing the wicket. The outfield is already dry despite the vast quantities of rain that have fallen in the last few days. Despite some wet patches inside the thirty yard circle, play should be possible this afternoon.
Whilst the conditions may be dry enough the wicket is under prepared and its difficult to predict how it's going to play. The staff here at Police Park Sports Club were only given 24 hours notice to prepare the wicket after plans to play at Moratuwa were hastily abandoned due to the state funeral of the late Minister C.V. Gooneratne.
Wasim Akram is not with the Pakistan squad at the moment and is not expected to arrive until Monday.
