Bad weather once again ruined play at Bloemfontein where the Eagles and the Lions had to settle for no result after rain washed out a match that had already been reduced to 33 overs. After the initial delay, the Lions made a good start after having been asked to bat, but they lost both openers with the score on 51 in the tenth over. Dumisa Makalima (50) and Neil McKenzie (43) stabilised the innings by adding 97 runs in 16 overs, and the innings ended at 190 for 6 when 33 overs were completed. The Eagles started at a gallop with Loots Bosman and Morne van Wyk taking the score to 30 after 3.3 overs when the rain sent the players off the field for the final time.
