Running between the wickets was the focus on the second day of the fitness-specific camp for batsmen at Bangalore. Each batsman was timed during his sprints with and without pads strapped on and with bat in hand.
The hour-long morning session on the second day of the camp held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium also involved stretching, bending and running. This was followed by a lengthy session indoors at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), housed inside the stadium, that involved fielding and catching drills. Sachin Tendulkar, who missed the first two days of the camp, is scheduled to be present on the last two days - on Monday and Tuesday, after reaching here in the evening.
The camp strength would also be boosted with the arrival of the four batsmen who were the part of the Asia XI in the Afro-Asia Cup ODI series - Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They are expected to reach Bangalore on Monday.
Wasim Jaffer is yet to join the camp as he's down with viral fever and it's unlikely that he would be able to do so on the last two days, according to the camp co-ordinator Ramesh Rao.
"If at all, he will be able to make it to the regular camp for the Indian team members starting on June 13," he said.
Meanwhile, legspinner Anil Kumble had his regular work-out in the gymnasium when the batsmen were training."Kumble had come for his regular work out and is not part of this camp," Rao clarified.
Speedster S Sreesanth trained with the batsmen today for the second day in running but will not be present on the last two days.
