Time till Friday to submit qualifications
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board at an Executive Meeting held on
Monday, has given all nominees seeking election to office at the
50th annual general meeting, time till Friday (March 13) to
submit their respective qualifications in cricket.
Exempt from this rule are the treasurer and the assistant
treasurer according to the Cricket Board constitution Section 11
(f).
The ExCo will meet on Monday (March 16) to shortlist the
nominees who are qualified to seek office before sending it up
for ratification to the Sports Minister. It will be circulated
amongst its membership thereafter.
According to a Sports Ministry release, all nominees should
conform to Section 18 (a) of the Cricket Board where the
definition of major tournaments have been laid down.
The 'Daily News' reliably understands that the major tournaments
laid down by the Cricket Board and gazetted by the Sports
Minister on November 1, 1997 will be taken into consideration in
this instance, as time is insufficient to go into detail and
accept the recent reclassification of the major tournaments by
the Cricket Board.
The AGM of the Cricket Board is scheduled to be held at its
headquarters on March 29. - [S.T.]
