* Old Sylvestrians Sports Club, Kandy scored their second
successive win when they defeated Galagedera Cricket Club by 107
runs in their Cricket Board's Division III cricket tournament
match played at Police grounds, Kandy.
Old Sylvestrians CC, taking the first lease, made 214 all out in
45.3 overs (Arosha Perera 31, D. Ranaweera 21, H. Wimalawickrema
15, S. Daluwatte 20, C. Wijesinghe 30, T. Liyanage 30, S.
Abeyratne 12, C. Bandara 26, F. S. B. Gerakaduwa 3 for 35, H. M.
Vinod 3 for 24). In reply, Galagedera CC were shot out for 107
in 33.4 overs (F. S. Bandara 37, L. Kumara 21, U. B. Ranoos 17,
Arosha Perera 3 for 15, R. Dissanayake 2 for 17, S. Daluwatte 2
for 14).
* World champions Sri Lanka are down to play in at least two
more one day international tournaments before they defend their
title at the 1999 mega event in England.
After the current quadrangular tournament in Pakistan, Sri Lanka
are down to compete in one day international tournaments in
South Africa and England in the next 20 months. Sri Lanka, which
has won four of their eight one day international tournaments
after the World Cup last March, will also host a quadrangular
tournament in Colombo later next year.
* Prince of Wales College `A' team qualified for the second
round in the under-13 division one all-island Horlicks Trophy
inter-school cricket tournament when they beat Maris Stella,
Negombo, De Mazanod, Kandana, drew with Ananda and lost to St.
Sebastians.
Shanaka Perumpulli with a chanceless century and an unbeaten
half century, two good knocks from Vikum Thejan and Shan
Wijerathne propped up the Cambrian batting while Kavinda Silva
excelled with the ball.
* The Carlton & United World Series Cup triangular tournament
will go ahead uninterrupted following the decision of the
Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) not to take an immediate
union action over their pay demands. A senior Australian Cricket
Board official said they have finalised all arrangements for the
WSC tourney.
The three-nation tournament will be worked off in Australia from
December 4 to January 27 next year. Besides the hosts Australia,
South Africa and New Zealand are the other two teams taking
part. The annual triangular tournament starts with a match
between Australia and South Africa in Sydney on December 4. All
matches, except for the fifth preliminary round match between
New Zealand and South Africa in Hobart on December 11, will be
day/night games.

Sebastians.

A fifth wicket partnership of 135 between Muditha Fernando (72)
and Kanchana Rodrigo (55) ensured Isipatana a draw in their
inter-school cricket match against Prince of Wales concluded at
the BRC grounds yesterday.
Isipatana recovered from their overnight 45 for 4 to total 193
in reply to the Cambrians' first innings of 218 for 9 declared.
