Sriram completes 1000 runs in Ranji Season

Tamil Nadu's Sridharan Sriram became seventh batsman in the history
of Ranji Trophy to cross the milestone of 1000 runs in a season during
his innings of 165 in the quarterfinal against Punjab at Chennai. The
southpaw from Tamil Nadu also upstaged former teammate WV Raman
(1018 from 7 matches in 1988-89), the only other batsman from the state
to do so.
It took Sriram just seven matches (and nine innings) to complete his
1000 runs in the season.Sriram's scores this season are: 121 against
Hyderabad, 147 against Goa, 98 against Saurashtra, 23 and 31 against
Orissa, 177 against Haryana, 288 & 0* (retired hurt) against Uttar
Pradesh; and 165 and 13 against Punjab.
Karnatakas Vijay Bhardwaj holds the record of maximum run aggregate
in a Ranji season.He had scored 1280 runs in 10 matches keeping an
average of 106.66 last season. Sriram is now only 231 runs away in
