Root has hit at least one fifty in five of six Tests at Lord's. The only time he failed to do so was in the Ashes Test last year when he made 1 and 17. Anderson has taken only three wickets in his last five innings at Lord's, from 105 overs and conceding 333 runs. He went wicketless in his previous Test at this venue, in the Ashes, when he recorded 0 for 137 from 33 overs. Anderson's returns have been impressive in this series though: his average of 7.72 in this series is currently the second best for any pace bowler to take at least 15 wickets in a Test series. George Lohmann took 35 wickets in a series in South Africa in 1895-96 at an average of 5.80 runs apiece.
1 Number of five-wicket hauls by Sri Lanka bowlers at Lord's - Rumesh Ratnayake's 5 for 69 in the first innings of the 1991 Test is the only instance at this venue. Since then, Rangana Herath's 4 for 95 in the second innings of the 2014 Test is the best return in an innings at Lord's by a Sri Lanka bowler in almost 25 years. Herath's overall tally of ten wickets is the most by a Sri Lanka bowler at Lord's.
4 Hundreds by Sri Lanka captains at Lord's, including three of the last five made by overseas captains at this venue. Sri Lanka's captain has made a century in each of the previous three Tests played at this venue. Mahela Jayawardene made 119 in the second innings in 2006, Tillakaratne Dilshan hit 193 in the first innings in 2011 and the current captain, Angelo Mathews, made 102 in the first innings of the 2014 Test. Mathews' 120 runs at this venue is the joint highest by a Sri Lanka batsman in their current squad. Kaushal Silva has also scored 120 runs at Lord's; his two fifties in the 2014 Test being only the 12th instance of two fifty-plus scores by an overseas opener at the ground.
