Tharanga's 174 is also the highest individual score at Sabina Park, beating the previous highest of 160 by Pakistan's Imran Nazir, against Zimbabwe. Tharanga's score is the third highest against India in ODIs.
Sri Lanka's opening stand was the seventh 200-plus partnership involving Tharanga. The only other player to achieve this feat is Ricky Ponting. Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar are next in the list with six 200-plus partnerships each.
The 213-run opening partnership between Mahela Jayawardene and Tharanga is Sri Lanka's best against India. It is also the second-highest partnership for Sri Lanka against India, for any wicket.
