  • Courtney Walsh took five wickets in an innings for the 19th time in his career, which takes him past Lance Gibbs's tally of 18 five wicket innings hauls. Now only Malcolm Marshall and Curtly Ambrose (22 each) are ahead of Walsh for West Indies.
  • Courtney Walsh has now appeared in 50 Test matches which ended in West Indies'favour. He became ninth player after Viv Richards (63), Desmond Haynes (60), Gordon Greenidge (57), Steve Waugh (57), Ian Healy (55), Mark Waugh (54), Mark Taylor (52) and Allan Border (50) to appear in 50 or more `won' matches for their respective sides.
  • Wasim's first innings figures (6-61) are the second best for Pakistan on West Indian soil after Imran Khan's 7 for 80 at Georgetown in 1987-88.
  • Wasim's match figures (11-110) are the best for Pakistan on West Indian soil. This obliterates Imran Khan's 11-121 at Georgetown in 1987-88.
  • Wasim's match figures (11-110) are also the joint second best by a bowler against West Indies in West Indies. England's Angus Fraser had returned the identical figures in the Port-of-Spain Test in 1997-98. However the best figures by any bowler against West Indies on latter's soil still remain on the name of Englishman Tony Greig who had taken 13 for 156 at Port-of-Spain in 1973-74 series.
  • It was the fifth time Wasim was capturing a ten wicket match haul. The break-up: twice against New Zealand and once each against Australia, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Wasim, thus, equalled fellow paceman Waqar Younis and former leggie Abdul Qadir's tally of 10 wicket match hauls for Pakistan. Now only Imran Khan, with six 10 wicket match hauls, is ahead of Wasim. Wasim, in the course, became 11th bowler in Test annals to capture five 10 wicket match hauls.
  • Wasim's figures are his personal best and 12th best for Pakistan in a match. Wasim's previous best was 11 for 160 against Australia at Melbourne in 1989-90.
  • Wasim Akram has now taken 79 wickets in 17 matches against West Indies and he is just one short of Imran Khan's tally of 80 wickets (from 18 matches) against West Indies.
  • Wasim Akram has now taken 35 wickets in 9 matches against West Indies on West Indian soil. Now only England's Angus Fraser (54 wickets in 12 matches), fellow countryman Imran Khan (48 in 8), Australia's Glenn McGrath (47 in 8) and India's S.Venkataraghavan (39 in 13) have taken more wickets than Wasim on West Indian soil. India's Kapil Dev also has a tally of 35 wickets from nine matches
  • Wasim Akram has now taken 107 wickets in 26 Test matches lost by Pakistan. He, in the course, became fifth bowler to complete century of wickets in lost matches. The details:
