Lahore, June 12: Pakistan Under-15 cricket team for the first Asia Cup
will be announced on June 16. The competition is scheduled to be held
at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from June 30 to July 9.
A camp to finalise the team is in full swing at the Gaddafi Stadium
since May 21.
The camp-commandant Brig. Munawar Ahmad Rana with coach Masood Anwar
said, while giving a press briefing about the preparation of the team
on Monday, that the team would be selected from the 29 probables who
were attending the camp after watching their performance in the
ongoing 10-match series. Seven matches of the series had been arranged
and the remaining three matches would be completed by June 16.
Brig. Munawar Ahmad said that some changes might be made in the team
which would be announced for the Asia Cup, for its next assignment of
the second World Cup Under-15 tournament which was scheduled in
England from July 30 to August 10.
He said that after the selection of the team, the camp would be
resumed after four-day break on June 21. The team would depart for
Kuala Lumpur on June 27, he added.
Replying to a question, coach Masood Anwar said that he had no
knowledge about the strength of Pakistan's two big rivals in the Asia
Cup-India and Sri Lanka. He said that special attention was paid to
improve the fielding of the probables as well as to maintain
discipline during the camp training.
Masood Anwar said that all the probables were very talented, but a
number of leg-spinners have been spotted during the camp.
