"I was fielding off my own bowling and went over on it, I heard a noise and feared the worst," Udal told The Southern Daily Echo. "But the X-ray results were good and the silver lining is that next two home games are at the Rose Bowl, which favours the seamers."
Hampshire's physio, Andrew Nealon, added: "There's no obvious bone injury but we're waiting on the results of a scan." He said that Udal's fitness would be assessed over the coming week.
With the warm weather which has greeted the start of the season Udal is shaping as a key part of Hampshire's attack, forming an impressive spin combination with Shane Warne. The pair shared seven wickets in the second innings at The Oval and Udal certainly wasn't overshadowed by his more famous team-mate.
