Waqar Younis may be returning to county cricket for the 2004 season, with Warwickshire on the lookout for an experienced fast bowler after their failure to lure Darren Gough to Edgbaston.
Waqar took 39 wickets in eight championship games last year, and should be available for the entire season after being overlooked for Pakistan's forthcoming series against India. "Waqar is definitely an option, as are quite a few others," said Gladstone Small, a member of Warwickshire's committee. "We have a young and talented bunch of quick bowlers but need someone who has a bit of experience and maybe who is a personality."
"I feel I have one last season of county cricket in me," said Waqar. "I got on well with the guys so I hope it happens." Warwickshire has already signed Australia's World Cup-winning spinner Brad Hogg as one of their overseas players
