Thirteen-Year-old Nicholas Squires has been rewarded for an
outstanding performance so far in this year's domestic cricket
competition. The Lodge School batsman, who also plays for the Cockspur
Wanderers Cricket Club was presented with sports gear by the club and
a donation from Richard Stoute.
Squires has been playing for Wanderers for two years and has scored
850 runs, including four centuries.
Stoute, a local entertainer who is very fond of the lad, said he was
extremely proud and pleased with his performances. He promised Squires
if he made 500 runs this season he would be given a prize.
'When I first saw Nicholas in the Under-15 trials, I was very
impressed with his ability and his discipline. He has tremendous
ability and I have no doubt that he will be a future West Indian
cricketer,'- Stoute said.
'It takes a lot of practice and commitment and there are a lot of
sacrifices to be made,' Squires said, encouraging other young
cricketers to do their best.
