At Kolkata, March 26, 2016. New Zealand won by 75 runs. Toss: New Zealand. Twenty20 international debut: H. M. Nicholls.
On a typical Eden Gardens turner New Zealand completed their fourth win out of four, condemning Bangladesh to their lowest Twenty20 total. Set 146 for a victory that might have provided a little consolation following their traumatic meltdown against India three days earlier, Bangladesh slipped from 29 for one to 70 all out, undercutting the 78 they made against the New Zealanders at Hamilton in February 2010. Shuvagata Hom alone spared them an even more embarrassing total, as Sodhi and Elliott shared the last six wickets; the only respite came when the floodlights stopped working for 11 minutes. New Zealand's own innings had been a typically pragmatic effort: at one stage, they managed just one boundary in 49 balls. But, despite a late flurry of wickets, a total of 145 for eight proved more than ample. The result - New Zealand's sixth successive win in the format, a national record - was hard luck on Bangladesh's nippy, whippy left-armer Mustafizur Rahman. His figures of five for 22, which remained the tournament's best, included four players bowled. In all, ten batsmen suffered that fate, by two the most in any Twenty20 international.
