Sri Lanka International Cricket 2001-2003
Over the past few days, a section of the media has speculated regarding the
commercial rights of Sri Lanka International Cricket 2001-2003.
In an earlier statement WSG Nimbus had clarified that it has honored all
its obligations under its agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket
in Sri Lanka (BCCSL), and differences that had cropped up on this score
were due to tour confirmations evidence not being made available as per
agreement, to WSG Nimbus by the BCCSL.
WSG Nimbus is pleased to state that parties have met and resolved their
differences with regard to interpretation of the agreement, and taking into
account the practical difficulties faced by the BCCSL in obtaining tour
confirmations for the term specified in the agreement; WSG Nimbus and BCCSL
have agreed to a number of modifications in the agreement with the BCCSL,
such that the interests of Sri Lankan cricket and the BCCSL can be balanced
with the requirements of broadcast, sponsorship and other licensees.
Accordingly amendments to the agreement have now been signed and the
management of the commercial rights of Sri Lanka International Cricket
2001-2003 continues to be vested in WSG Nimbus Pte Ltd.
WSG Nimbus looks forward to adding value to Sri Lankan cricket and
beginning with its coverage of the England tour (first international match
starts 22 February 2001) shall demonstrate new standards in cricket
television coverage.
As earlier planned, WSG Nimbus shall setting up a Colombo representative
office in the near future, to better serve the interests of Sri Lankan
cricket and the BCCSL.
