Canada's inaugural multi-format National Cricket League, involving five teams representing different regions, will be played from August 2 to August 11 at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario. The tournament starts with a 50-over leg from August 2 to 5 followed by a Twenty20 leg from August 6 to 11.
Country's top 21 high performance cricketers and 44 elite cricketers have been divided among the five teams - Pacific Edge, Eastern Fury, Western Stallions, Prairie Fire and Central Shield. Canada's national team captain Jimmy Hansra will lead the Pacific Edge team while allrounder Rizwan Cheema has been appointed the captain for Eastern Fury.

Agree with you COOLANKA. The Canadian board thinks that they don't need to go beyond expat population but they complain about lack of money (majority of which comes from the mainstream compaines). What an irony?
Posted by COOLANKA on (August 2, 2012, 11:07 GMT)all the canadian players from asia that's why they can't compete as a nation. if a country play any game they must have more native players than others, i don't think they can come up and play competitive cricket.
Posted byWill Cricinfo be covering this like they did with the EAPL?
Posted byGood News and Good luck this will encourage playrs in other region to compete and if they will get good young players for the future.
Posted by Narbavi on (August 2, 2012, 9:01 GMT)Good luck i am sure you guys are better than Bangladesh team minus shakib, you just need a platform to prove yourself against them!!
Posted by Hattrick_Capes on (August 2, 2012, 8:51 GMT)Let's hope this is a big step forwards for a country that has been going backwards since 2003.
Posted by chicko_1290 on (August 2, 2012, 8:43 GMT)Good news to hear from Canada. Always up there in the Associate rankings yet never seem to be able to beat a full member. Hopefully this gives them a bit more competition which should harden them up to make them more competitive.
