Yorkshire completed a comprehensive innings-and-27-run victory against Hampshire at Headingley as the visitors were bowled out for 212 in their second innings. Only Michael Brown offered any real resistance before he fell to Ajmal Shahzad for 81. Five bowlers took two wickets each, including Matthew Hoggard who finished with eight scalps in the match to push his claims for an England recall.
Lancashire and Somerset played out a quiet draw at Old Trafford after the third day's play was abandoned. Lancashire declared on their overnight 221 for 9, but there was never any serious chance of a final-day contest. Justin Langer made 76 and Ian Blackwell (58) struck his second half-century of the match. Glen Chapple collected four wickets while Brad Hodge, in his final action before heading to the IPL, grabbed two late wickets as the match drifted to a finish.
Martin van Jaarsveld guided Kent to a draw against Sussex at Hove after being left a target of 337. He and James Tredwell added 93 for the second wicket to nullify the threat from Mushtaq Ahmed, who only collected a further two wickets to add to his first-innings five-wicket haul. van Jaarsveld's unbeaten 82 came off 148 balls as he bounced back from his golden duck on the second day. Sussex's last three wickets had fallen for eight runs in the morning session as Azhar Mahmood finished with 5 for 30, but in the end the time lost to rain proved crucial.

Rajasthan Royals continued to surge up the points table by beating Bangalore Royal Challengers comprehensively by seven wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to draw level with the Chennai Super Kings with three wins each. The win was set up by their bowlers, after Shane Warne decided to field, who restricted Bangalore to 135, allowing the batsmen to chase at a comfortable pace.
The contest wasn't too dissimilar to the one between the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata earlier in the day, where Chennai completed an easy win after their bowlers kept Kolkata to 147. Having been put in on a pitch with a bit of assistance for the fast bowlers, Bangalore, perhaps taking cue from Brendon McCullum's 158, felt that being positive was the way to go but several aerial shots resulted in a flurry of wickets.

Hayden and Oram crush Kolkata

A superb unbeaten 70 by Matthew Hayden put the seal on an emphatic nine-wicket win for Chennai Super Kings, as they thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders with 19 balls to spare

Chennai Super Kings went on top of the table after an efficient performance from the bowlers - reckoned to be the team's weak link - set up a convincing nine-wicket victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders. After Kolkata were restricted to 147, Matthew Hayden's superb unbeaten 70 ensured there were no hiccups in making it three wins out of three.
Jacob Oram and Muttiah Muralitharan were the stand-out bowlers for Chennai, but the Indian bowling contingent backed them up well. Oram nailed the explosive pair of Bendon McCullum and Ricky Ponting early to give the huge home crowd something to shout about. Muralitharan's restrictive spell - he finished with figures of none for 12 from four overs - then frustrated the visitors and ensured Oram's good work wasn't wasted.

Nash hundred gives Jamaica the edge

Brendan Nash's 117 handed Jamaica a healthy lead over Trinidad & Tobago on day two of the Carib Beer Challenge Final at Sabina Park

He glaring sun bore down on the Trinidad and Tobago fielders at Sabina Park, Jamaica, in the first session of the second day of the Carib Challenge final. So did the weight of a substantial 172-run first innings deficit against the Jamaicans, built on the back of an inspired knock of 116 from Brendan Nash, his second for Jamaica, and second versus T&T this season.
At the close, T&T were trying to make inroads into a challenging deficit, very aware that they must first overhaul a daunting lead before they can think about setting Jamaica a competitive fourth innings target. Openers Daren Ganga and Adrian Barath set about on a rescue mission and, by the close, had given T&T a good start of 43 without loss, a three-wicket improvement over Thursday's first session. They might have had something in the vicinity of 20 more runs, but the Sabina Park outfield, which has seen much better days, was effective in slowing up the ball towards the boundary.
Their reply was not without blemish, though, as both batsmen were let off, Ganga dropped by Nash in slip on eight and Barath put down by Jamaica's first day hero, left arm spinner Nikita Miller, on 14.

The Titans were at their sharpest with bat and ball as they turned the Dolphins into sushi with an 18-run win in the Standard Bank Pro20 final in Durban. The win marked the Titans' second triumph of the summer in the wake of their successful MTN domestic championship campaign.
Led by a third-wicket stand of 60 between Gulam Bodi (45) and AB de Villiers (46), the Titans posted 153 for 6 - the highest total scored in this competition at Kingsmead this season. The Dolphins struck back by dismissing Bodi and de Villiers 10 balls apart, but Albie Morkel steered the Titans to their challenging total with an unbeaten 33 that he blasted off 17 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Then, spearheaded by Ethy Mbhalati's 3 for 18, they sent the home side packing for 135 in 19.1 overs. The Dolphins crashed to 49 for 5 in reply before Pierre de Bruyn (29) and Daryn Smit (36) dragged them back into the game with a stand of 60. But the Titans turned the tide conclusively when Faf du Plessis had Smit brilliantly caught on the midwicket boundary and Albie Morkel bowled de Bruyn.

Hampshire tumbled towards an innings defeat against Yorkshire at Headingley, after being made to follow-on thanks to Matthew Hoggard's first-innings haul of 6 for 57. With five wickets to his name overnight, Hoggard removed Nic Pothas with his first ball of the morning, to finish with 6 for 57, his best figures for Yorkshire for five year. The tailenders were shared around among his team-mates as Hampshire succumbed for 159, a deficit of 239, and second-time around they fared little better. By the close Tim Bresnan and Anthony McGrath had grabbed two wickets apiece, with Michael Brown battling hard on 58 not out, out of a total of 136 for 4.
No play was possible on the third day of Somerset's match against Lancashire at Old Trafford. Lancashire still trail by 17 runs in their first innings with one wicket remaining.

For the second time in the match Matt Prior hauled Sussex out of a hole after the top-order slumped and set the platform for a final-day dart at victory. Luke Wright also played a vital hand as they added 115 for the sixth wicket and built an advantage of 278 to set up a fascinating finish. Mushtaq Ahmed's 5 for 83 earned a 99-run lead as Kent did well to avoid the follow-on before striking back to reduce Sussex to 54 for 5 shortly after tea.
It was a spirited resurgence from Kent who began the day on 65 for 6 and fell away to 122 for 9. Geraint Jones and Yasir Arafat added 82 for the last wicket and when Azhar Mahmood claimed two quick wickets, followed by Chris Adams going early in the final session, the game was alive for Kent.

Murtagh cleans up Glamorgan with seven

A persistent afternoon spell from Tim Murtagh earned him career-best figures of 7 for 95 to help Middlesex to a scrawny eight-run lead over Glamorgan on the third day at Lord's

A persistent afternoon spell from Tim Murtagh earned him career-best figures of 7 for 95 to help Middlesex to a scrawny eight-run lead over Glamorgan on the third day at Lord's. At stumps, Andrew Strauss and Billy Godleman had extended Middlesex's lead to 64, and any hopes Glamorgan have of breaking their 54-year duck at Lord's diminished by the ball.
Murtagh was again well supported by Steven Finn who bowled rather more than his captain would have liked, owing to Chris Silverwood hobbling off midway through his 10th over. He was later spotted on cautionary crutches behind the pavilion, cheerfully announcing "I'll be back", and for all Murtagh and Finn's persistence, Middlesex missed his explosiveness.

Inspired Punjab trounce Mumbai

Mumbai Indians will have realised that money can't buy you a winning team, for the most expensive side in the IPL lost their third game in a row and were hauled down the points table by Kings XI Punjab, who got their first win of the tournament

Football's truism - money alone can't buy you a winning team - found its echo in cricket as the Mumbai Indians, the IPL's most expensive franchise, lost their third consecutive game in a row to find themselves one place above the bottom of the table. They were outplayed by Kings XI Punjab, who secured their first win of the tournament with a fine team performance studded by some moments of individual brilliance.
For all of that, this match had lots for the purist too, as it showed Test skills can be used to great effect in cricket's newest format. Kumar Sangakkara used classical shots in his innings, while Piyush Chawla bowled attacking legspin to rattle the Mumbai batsmen and concede just 16 runs off four overs.
At the toss, Harbhajan Singh explained the decision to field first by saying his side preferred chasing. But their pursuit of a competitive, though not impossible, target was crippled by wickets falling at regular intervals - six of them between the ninth and fifteenth overs - as the line-up, once again lacking Sachin Tendulkar, came up against some inspired Punjab bowling.

Offspinner Mirza Jamil snapped up two wickets in the final over to bowl Pakistan to a dramatic two-run victory over West Indies in the knock-out final of the CLICO International Under-15 Championship at Warner Park.
With West Indies requiring six runs from the final six deliveries, Man Of The Match Jamil held his nerve to send down two dot balls to No. 10 batsman Donavan Nelson before having him caught at midwicket attempting a boundary.
Devone Davis, who was left undefeated on 24, spanked the fourth ball to deep extra cover and scampered two but could only achieve a single from the penultimate delivery, to leave his partner Omar Samuels needing a big hit to win the match. Jamil, however, sent down a flatter, faster ball which Samuels failed to negotiate and wicketkeeper Faizan Khan whipped off the bails to end the Windies innings at 217.
