Shots of the Week - Oct 30 - Nov 6 by Will Luke
Flying eagle
It was a worrying week for traditionalists with the news that Commonwealth Bank have bought the naming rights for the Australia one-day team. Tim de Lisle, the former Wisden Almanack editor who has his own blog at Cricinfo, posted his thoughts on this. Before all this happened, though, another commercial shoot appeared on the wires; witness this magnificent wedge-tailed eagle, clamping down on a set of stumps, at a Wolf Blass promotional event•Getty Images
Its this weeks most remarkable photo, but more for the reasons behind it. Pictured is what little remains of the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy in Harare which, equally remarkably, it is alleged that Mark Vermuelan burned down. Certainly not the type of photography, or indeed story, we would rather cover, especially mere days before the ICC announced the reinstating of Test status to the beleaguered nation.•ESPNcricinfo Ltd

We receive a lot of press releases at Cricinfo from people whose names become very familiar but often we wont have the chance to know them or meet them. Imran Khan is one such person, the media manager for the West Indies Cricket Board but, thanks to his blog, we learn he is a budding photographer. He kindly sent this through on behalf of the WICB: an excellent candid photo of their wicketkeeper, Carlton Baugh, atop a camel in Jaipur. Shots like these are all too rare in sport photography

Chris Gayle was undoubtedly the batsman of the week after his brilliant, breathtakingly audacious yet controlled hundred sunk South Africa in the Champions Trophy. This photo sums Gayle up quite perfectly; its a powerful, aggressive, bold pull shot with the minimum of movement. Tall at the crease, his left leg apparently cemented to the crease and if you look carefully, a face bereft of emotion. Cool, calm, collected.•AFP
What would William Gilbert, the worlds first superstar, have made of Andrew Symonds? Never mind the violent, carefree batting or his elastic fielding ability just look at the hair, sun cream and tights•Getty Images
