Leicestershire Foxes suffered their third consecutive Friends Life T20 wash-out at Grace Road, with the North Group clash against Durham Dynamos abandoned after only five overs. The start was delayed by 10 minutes because of light rain, and the Foxes were then put in to bat after Durham won the toss.
But rain was falling again by the time Foxes opener Josh Cobb launched a blistering assault on the Dynamos' attack, blazing his way to a stunning half-century off 21 balls - the fastest ever fifty in the competition by a Leicestershire player. Cobb hit four sixes and five other boundaries before being bowled with the final ball of the fifth over by Ian Blackwell, having made 54 out of Leicestershire's score of 58.
That proved to be the final action of the match, as the rain became heavier after the teams left the field. At 7.20pm, umpires Steven Gale and Richard Kettleborough decided no further play was possible, with both sides collecting one point from the game.
Leicestershire have now had three of their four home games in the competition this season abandoned, and lost the other one to Lancashire.
