Rupganj confirm Super League spot with win

A round-up of the Dhaka Premier Division matches played on December 14, 2014

Legends of Rupganj confirmed a place in the Super League after an easy, six-wicket win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in Mirpur. They finished the first league phase with seven wins out of 11 games while Dhanmondi finished with four wins in all.

Tamim Iqbal struck his first fifty of the domestic season thereafter, and his 90-ball 73 eased the chase for Rupganj, who eventually won the game in 36.2 overs.
Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 22 runs in Fatullah, also strengthening their position on the points table. Rahmat Shah's four wickets were a decisive factor in their win.
Batting first, Mohammedan ran into early trouble as they slipped to 24 for 4 in the seventh over. Rahmat and Ariful Haque staged a fightback adding 58 runs for the fifth wicket, after which the latter stabilized the innings with his 107-ball 83, his highest in the format.
Ariful's innings contained four boundaries and a couple of sixes, but he added 30 runs for the sixth wicket with Mashrafe Mortaza, 57 for the seventh wicket with Noor Hossain before becoming the ninth wicket to fall in the penultimate over. Shahadat Hossain completed his maiden five-wicket haul in List-A cricket.
Kalabagan were on course with the 84-run second wicket partnership between Shamsur Rahman and Jupiter Ghosh, but once the pair were dismissed in their forties, the innings collapsed. They were eventually bowled out for 172 runs in 42.2 overs with Rahmat taking his four-for.
Rony Talukdar's maiden List-A century helped Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club confirm their place in the last six, as they beat Partex Sporting Club by a resounding eight wickets with more than 15 overs to spare.
Batting first, Partex made 233 runs in 48.5 overs with Abdullah Al Mamun's 93 and 60 by Mehrab Hossain jnr the major contributing knocks. Dawid Malan picked up four wickets while Elias Sunny took three.
Doleshwar completed the chase in just 34.4 overs, thanks to Rony's 112 off 123 balls with nine fours and four sixes. He first added 59 for the opening wicket with Mehedi Maruf, and later added 140 for the second wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim who made a 78-ball 70.
The loss means that Partex, Old DOHS Sports Club and Kalabagan will battle in the relegation league, where the bottom two will be demoted to the Dhaka First Division Cricket League, the second rung of league competition in the city.
