Says what's all the fuss about and finishes the game in style, gets down low and cracks the slog sweep across the line and beats the packed field at leg for a four, it has got enough legs to reach the rope at deep midwicket. Zubair is absolutely pumped up, he has kept his cool and got his side over the line
MI Emirates vs Giants, 19th Match at Abu Dhabi, ILT20, Jan 25 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
That's it for tonight's coverage. Join us again tomorrow for more ILT20 action. For now, it's goodbye and goodnight from all of us
Nicholas Pooran, MI Emirates Captain: Tough one today. Not enough discipline with the bat and bowl. (on run-out claim) called him (Curran) back in the spirit of game. We haven't respected the game enough, the opposition and our plans. If we keep making same mistakes, it will cost us. Hopefully, we'll try to reflect and we need to pick ourselves up. It's definitely frustrating but we need to keep our emotions in check
James Vince, Gulf Giants Captain: Stumbled at the end but got the points. Couple of games we were in position to win games, we haven't dominated. Last season we win those moments...tonight was massively important to get back to winning ways. Still in the hunt for winning. Seamers upfront restricted and got key wickets, Banton and Pollard batted really well. Certainty wasn't impossible to chase that down
Mark Adair, Player of the Match: It was just basics again. Delighted to get across the line. Tom Curran came in and shared his experience. Delighted to catch (Pollard). It swirls a bit, there is always wind here, thankfully caught that
Almost botched up a straightforward chase after a superb bowling effort. Incredible drama towards the end of this game with a run-out claim from Pooran, who then changed his mind in the spirit of cricket and Curran came back. Erasmus, Alsop made handy contributions and later cameos from Curran and Adair kept them in the hunt. Aayan played a vital knock and his timely blows gave Giants the much-needed win. Rohid was exceptional with the ball and Joseph did a good job but Mousley was the most expensive bowler and the gamble to have him bowl the final over backfired big time. Gulf Giants move to the fifth spot after this win while MI Emirates remain in second place with a positive NRR of 0.15
Disturbs the furniture! Curran backed away and he slung it full on off and it tickles the stumps, zingers are alight. He's not going to go down without a spirited fight; a good comeback after being dispatched for a six
Full on leg, scuffs a drive back to the bowler
Full-toss on middle, plinked out to long-off for a run
Around the wicket, full on fifth stump, forces it to sweeper cover and dashes back for the second
Tossed outside off, can't cut it away
Bowls a full-toss on middle and leg and he accepts it gleefully, smoked over midwicket for a six . It's a no ball too, double-whammy, he knew he erred big time
Bustling in, lands it full and outside off, opens the face and carves it away to deep backward point for a couple. 11 will be required from the final over
Gets away with a juicy full-toss outside off, wanted to slam it away but missed it altogether
Looking for the blockhole, not far away from the spot, angled across off and prodded away to Waseem at deep third
Yorker length on off, pushed away to long-off for a run
Dishes out a wide outside the line of off-stump
Wide yorker, opens the face and steers it away to Waseem at deep third
Slices in the air and he didn't get the requisite distance, Muhammad Waseem takes a spectacular running catch at deep third and Adair has to go. It was bowled across off and he wanted to swat it out of the park
Goes full and outside off, plinked out to Pollard past mid-off for a run Pooran is claiming that it's a run-out as he grounded his bat and then left the crease even though the throw hadn't yet arrived and collected by Pooran but he loses the case even though his argument seems strong. Well, it's been sent to the third umpire for another look. It is OUT on the big screen and it won't sit nicely with Tom Curran and Andy Flower. And he started to walk off but he is now coming back. It's so confusing. Perhaps Nicholas Pooran called him back and decided against his appeal. Yes, he is staying on and will continue to bat.
Over the wicket again, short on middle, he steps away to the leg side, gives himself room and cuts it over Pooran's head for a four. He has got ice in his veins; remarkable awareness and composure at this crunch stage of the game
Pollard gamely jumped two-handed at mid-off but no dice, excellent effort, timed the jump to perfection and almost pouched it. Slightly short on middle and powered down but hit him high and wasn't timed well enough
Short of a length at middle, backs away and clatters it on the rise to sweeper cover, brilliant running between the wickets, rolled his fingers on it
Bit short on the pads, glanced away to short fine and tears across for a quick single
Farooqi with a splendid effort at deep third, hauled the ball back in on one bounce, one-handed stop while running to his left, was a shortish ball outside off, sliced away behind square
