SIX AND DONE! Hauled over deep square leg! Livingstone bellows in delight as he swats Fisher into the night for one last time! Phoenix win by eight wickets and march imperiously into the final of the men's Hundred!
N S-Chargers vs Phoenix, 31st Match at Leeds, Men's Hundred, Aug 17 2021 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Phoenix won by 8 wickets (with 26 balls remaining)
8.45pm: Liam Livingstone is a baller. A stone-cold 100-baller. He equals Jemimah Rodrigues' 92 from the opening rounds of the women's comp, and walks off after taking his team top of the men's table with a dominant display at Headingley. Phoenix go straight to Lord's, while Southern Brave and Trent Rockets will face-off in the Eliminator on Friday.
Livingstone, predictably enough, is Hero of the Match: "It's been nice, I've felt a bit more pressure since Mo went away, he's such a gap in our batting order. But I've really enjoyed playing cricket with these boys, we've got a young and fearless line-up and we've seen some great talent come through. You play cricket to make finals and we've done that. Whatever happens, we've proved a lot of people wrong in this comp. Tried not to think about it but everyone wants to play in the final. Lot of young boys who've not played in a franchise final so will be great for them. [Pulled rate back with ball] Immy's been a hero, Milne at the death showed why he's one of the best. Benny [Howell] does the ugly work, never goes for runs, they've done well all tournament. We brought it back really well and nice to knock them off. [Form] Like I said, I've worked hard on being more consistent, there's been glimpse over the years. Working hard to keep winning games for my team. Crowd's have been unbelievable, people who don't watch cricket getting into the Hundred, kids wearing shirts, and that's what we want for this tournament."
Yeesh, that was an awesome display. Lancashire's finest sending Birmingham through on Yorkshire's home patch! Anyway, thanks for chipping in, we've got one more round of group games to come tomorrow, then it's on to the knockouts on Friday and Saturday. Cheerio until then!
short ball wide of the stumps, swing and a miss
pitched up and pinged down the ground! Presses out and sends this screaming back, beats long-on's attempt to come across
Takes Livingstone to the highest individual score in the men's comp, surpassing the 81 made by David Willey and Colin Ingram
flipped over fine leg, lands just short of the rope! Cute stuff now, dancing across and scooping the full ball
Fisher again, Phoenix need 11 from 30 balls!
dragged down and pulled for a single through square leg
pushed through, boffed into the crowd again! Another catch in the stands...! Livingstone's ninth six, dropping deep and hammering it over wide long-on, right in his arc
flattish and cut away in front of the cover sweeper for a couple
slower pace, slightly short and Livingstone rocks back to launch a pull - hits the toe end and drops back down the pitch towards Rashid
tossed up outside off, cut for a single
Rashid on again
A very quiet set, but the air has gone out of Superchargers' balloon
full, 86mph and dug out down to long-off
DaveTwo: "Alan... I believe that should be smoked herring? lol" Whatever you're bowling, it's fish food tonight
back of a length once again and Abell settles for a nudge off the hip
short and angling in, attempts to pull but doesn't connect
back of a length in the channel, 84mph, zips through past Abell's dangled bat
full and wide, opens the face for one out to deep point, bottom hand off the bat
Matt Fisher for a second set
Still, Parkinson finishes with a respectable 1 for 36 from 20
floated up, sliced for four off the outside edge! Abell drops back and just gets some bat on it, the ball runs away
quicker ball, 69mph, basically a half-tracker to stop Livingstone coming down, swats the single
flatter outside off, cut for a single
tosses this up, Livingstone plays it watchfully back down the ground to long-on
lobbed up on the stumps and nudged to leg, the bowler hares after it
Tom Abell in, Parky to bowl a tenner
slows it up, spins this away, stumped! Parkinson breaks the stand, punches the air - possibly out of relief, as much as anything. Allen danced down and was beaten in the flight, he'll head off but his job's about done
