dropped at mid-on, and Invincibles win! Faf du Plessis, of all people, shells a simple take running to his left, and that allows Curran to go back for two and complete a rip-roaring win for the home side
N S-Chargers vs Invincibles, 9th Match at London, Aug 11 2022, The Hundred Men's Competition
Invincibles won by 3 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
6pm: That's the closest, most-entertaining result we've had in this season's competition. Invincibles were 21 for 3 after 20 balls, but battled back into contention and then clinched victory with a flurry of Curran (Sam and Tom) sixes at the end. Somehow Adam Lyth, who flayed 79 from 33 to take Superchargers to 117 for 2 with 29 balls to go, ended up on the losing side. Anyway, no time to stop and draw breath, because the women's Hundred is about to get going in front of a packed house - head over and join Vish Ehantharajah for the toss, and we'll have more on the Curran heroics here shortly
Here's Sam Curran, the Match Hero for his 60 off 39 and 1 for 26: "Amazing game. The Hundred almost needed that. The blood's rushing. Those games give you a lot of confidence. Narine was class, he's that anchor in our side, always gets 2-3 wickets. The captain, Jason, had a great day as well. We spoke about me and Coxy taking it as deep as possible. You can catch up quite easily on this ground, and Tom with those sixes showed at the end"
Briggs looks to scoop, the ball spins down leg and Curran yells his partner through. And it's a wide, too!
short ball, Curran hammers a pull... doesn't carry to RvdM! He's in the thick of the action, van der Merwe. Raced in from deep square and threw himself full length, but couldn't quite get there
Craig Miles to finish things. Five needed from five
slower ball on the stumps, nurdled into a gap at midwicket
All of which means, Invincibles need 6 from six with Danny Briggs at the crease on strike
screamer from Roela! Taken at mid-off! Haynes was looking to clatter a back-of-a-length ball down the ground, thought he had got it past the man, only for van der Merwe to fly full length into the picture and hold on with the fingertips of one hand!
pitched up, whirly helicopter wrists from Curran, just one to deep midwicket
short and swung for six more! Tom Curran has turned the game again! Connects with the pull and swats it into the dugouts
full toss, nailed! TeeCee collars Wiese for a meaty blow straight back down the ground. Doesn't matter where the fielders are!
Superchargers' to lose now?? Requirement is 19 from 10, but there's another twist... Supers have missed the cut-off, so it'll be an extra man inside the circle!
pace off again and Haynes plinks it over cover, into a gap and they'll come back for two
Jack Haynes in. Think this might be his Hundred debut...
bowls him with the slower ball! HUGE moment, and Bravo is toe-tapping, hands-jiving in celebration... Wins the battle of wits with SCurran, who steps away to make room but is exposed by the lack of pace, as the ball rattles the top of middle stump
smell the leather! Quick bumper from Bravo, sits SCurran back on his stumps
slower delivery in the channel, TeeCee almost swings himself off his feet top-edging wide of short third
full toss on the stumps, swatted through mid-on
Invincibles' to lose now? Needing 23 from 15 with Bravo back
dragged down and carted through square leg! SCurran nails a wrist-rolling swivel-pull into the gap!
flattish outside off and jabbed through point. Gets his brother back on strike
Out comes Tom Curran, and he'll be on strike
skyscraping hit but van der Merwe clings on! Cartwright skips out and looks for the straight slog, but gets under the ball and sends it a mile up. Very tough chance but Roela makes no mistake, falling back with the ball safely pouched against his chest
looped up and SCurran comes charging out, drills to long-off... who does well to keep them to one
flat legbreak on the stumps, nudged down the ground to get Curran on strike
Rashid again, 30 needed from 20
back of a length and Curran belts it at du Plessis in the covers, who fumbles the ball and then concedes an overthrow into the bargain!
sprayed wide, Bravo gets it wrong again
