cleans him up! Overton gets Overton. Big swing, no connection, and the slower ball crashes into the stumps
Spirit vs Brave, 26th Match at London, Men's Hundred, Aug 23 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
8.45pm: That's all from us for tonight. We'll be back for more tomorrow with more Hundred action, starting with the women's game in Cardiff bright and early. Thanks for your company.
Jamie Smith is player of the match. I'd have given it to Dawson. He says he's pleased with the intent that London Spirit showed throughout their batting innings.
8.40pm: All over, with Topley not fit to bat. That's a terrible night for the Brave and a bad one for the competition too: if the Rockets win in tomorrow afternoon's game in Cardiff then qualification will be locked in with five group games still to go. Impressive performance from the Spirit but, like the Brave, they are relying on the Rockets losing both of their last two games. Smith set the tone, Williamson took the baton, and Gleeson and Dawson led the defence. Roy and Evans the only Brave batters to get going.
Tonight's result also means that Northern Superchargers and Oval Invincibles are officially through to the knockout stages.
Kasinathan: "Overton bowled by Overton Very rare occurance"
one hand comes off the bat as he drags leg-side, good tumbling stop at deep backward square
sprayed down the leg side
Niranjan: "We will have Overton vs Overton tonight!" -- Right now, in fact.
wide yorker, sneaks under the toe of Archer's bat
wide outside off, Archer has a big swipe at thin air
yorker outside off, too good for Archer. Can't lay bat on it
MCC say there are 21,352 at Lord's tonight.
full outside off, mistimed back on the bounce
full toss wide outside off, dragged down to long-on
Topley will not bat. Wood to finish off.
Dawson has bowled brilliantly tonight.
slapped hard to extra cover on the edge of the ring
skews away towards short third
Jofra Archer comes out for a swing. I'm not sure if Topley will come out to bat after his shoulder injury earlier in the evening.
cleaned up! Dawson strikes again. All over bar the shouting. Dawson at his best. Sees Thompson coming, drops his pace, and it sneaks through under the bat to crash into the stumps
wide outside off, Thompson plays with the angle and lofts up and over the off side. Wood does well to cover the crowd running around from long-off, but it bursts through his hands as he tumbles to his right
gives the charge, drags from wide outside off down to long-on
Dawson will complete his allocation.
Gleeson's night is done. 3 for 30 is a handy return.
banged in halfway down, hauled out to deep midwicket on the pull
low full toss, strays past the pads
Craig Overton walks out at No. 9.
steps outside leg stump, heaves down the ground, but picks out Overton at long-on! Game, set and match. Gleeson followed Evans as he backed away with a hard-length ball. He got a good piece of it, but couldn't clear the tallest man on the pitch
tucks him up with a fullish ball on the pads, scuds off the thigh pad towards short fine leg
sliced up and over short third! Angled across him, throws the kitchen sink, and is rewarded for his intent. Was looking to go over mid-off but they all count
skips out, turns a slot ball into a yorker and can't lay bat on ball. Done on the outside edge
The Brave are just about still in it. 63 off 25 is the equation. Tough, but possible. Gleeson will finish his allocation.
full and wide outside off, chopped hard past short third! Well dug out by Thompson, and the ball races away off the outside edge
