game over! Full and on off, that beats the bat and hits the off stump..
Bangladesh vs West Indies, 20th Match, Group 2 at Dhaka, Mar 25 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Wonderful work from the West Indies bowling attack to complete the rout! It started off with Badree dismissing the dangerous Tamim, then those dual strikes from Santokie pulled the rug from Bangladesh's feet.. It was a downward spiral for the home side. Badree ended up with his best figures, Santokie picked up three, Narine was unplayable. Good win for the defending champions after the setback in the first game.
Dwayne Smith, who is the Man of the Match, says, "We have a good bowling attack, so it was important to put the runs on the board. Well done to our bowlers and our fielders. we had a very bad first game so we went and spent time in the nets to work hard on our mistakes. I am glad to see that Santokie performed well and hope he goes from strength to strength."
Darren Sammy says, "When you play cricket, the team that plays better wins. Much better game for us. Chris and Smithy played well, then our bowlers bowled fantastically well. We started off really well, Smith had to really graft. So he gave us the platform. The bowlers then bowled well. It is important that we won and it also boosted our NRR. Chris, this innings, he didnt score at the strike rate which we are used to, but the fact that he was there was important. The Bangladeshi captain brought Shakib very late because of him. In the next couple of games, i have no doubt he will get to his zone. I am not worried about him. The conditions are for slower bowling. Santokie and Badree started off very well. It is hard to leave someone like Ravi Rampaul out, but you saw what Santokie did. it is good to have that sort of bench strength."
Mushfiqur Rahim says, "It was a disappointing effort - first with our fielding, because we gave away a lot of cheap runs. To chase 170 you need a good start, but we lost wickets early and it is difficult from there on. Our bowling was good, but our fielding let down as we gave away 20 extra runs.. we need bit better shot selection. If you lose three early wickets, you are on a back foot. It hurts (the recent losses) but the credit should also go the opposition players."
That is the end of our coverage on ball-ball-ball, but plenty of analysis to come through. Join us tomorrow.. Ciao ciao
Russell comes in
Excellent spell by Santokie..
slower delivery on off, the batsman gets off the mark with a dab to point
Al-Amin is the last man in
slower delivery, this one is off the middle, heads down to long on where Bravo, nonchalantly takes his close to his boots.. throws it back at the stumps and goes back to his fielding position.. Super catch that one..
fuller delivery outside off, it's driven to deep cover
drop no. 2 by Samuels! Top-edge, Samuels at fine leg has all the time.. Still fluffs it
slower delivery on the stumps, he is beaten by the pace as he looks to flog that to leg side, but gets a faint outside edge that runs down to the boundary
fires in a yorker that is flicked to deep midwicket for a single
Stark62: "@ Abhishek That's not true because this is a very, very tough group and none of group 2 teams would have done well either (barring SL). Just watch how well ND perform against the others in group 2. "
moves to the leg side and flat-bats the shortish delivery to long on for a single
fuller delivery on leg stump, thumped down to long off for a single
another slower delivery outside off, the batsman is beaten as he looks to play a cute little cut
Jon: "@Abhishek: I don't think it's fair to judge the Full Members or the Associates based on T20 results. It's an entertaining format, but it's the one most likely to produce unrealistic results. Netherlands for instance are not as bad as they were against SL, but their performance against Ireland would have been miraculous for any side."
slower delivery, another thick edge, this one is fine on the off side and runs down to the boundary
slower delivery, the batsman swings across the line, he gets a big top edge, but that lands safely behind the umpire..Mid off could have made it in time if he had shown intent
Bravo comes in
Rishi: "Cant help thinking the problem for Bangladesh is they have been burdened with the expectations of a top tier cricketing team without the performances to show for it. Players just dont seem to be enjoying what they are doing. I wonder if Musfiqur's constant press tirades against his own players weighs them down too"
looks to repeat the shot, but make a limp contact this time.. back down the pitch
takes his eyes off as he pulls this back of the length deilvery, he is pleasantly surprised as he sees this disappear at deep backward square leg
length delivery on off stump, it is punched down to long on for a single
a good slower ball! the batsman looks to swing across the line and misses, that slides past the leg stump
fuller delivery, driven down to long on for a single
Nick: "Puts into light Gayle's innings, doesn't it? He got himself into form, one might add!"
he starts off with a yorker on off stump, dug out to the off side
beautiful legspinner! good amount of turn and completely bamboozles the batsman as it beats his flick.. that missed the outside edge
